Farewell 2007 Hello 2008

Another year has come and gone and it seems like they keep going quicker and quicker. 2007 was a good year in the Wuehler home. We went to visit family in Ca 4 times, Vanessa went to Disneyland twice (both times with out Isaac and once with Jim), we took a trip to Yellowstone, had family come and visit us here in UT and had plenty of fun day activities like going to the park, zoo, going for family bike rides and walks, hiked up mountains while strapping Isaac to our front, tons of swimming, riding ponies, touching animals and hanging out with our friends. The list can go on and on. We enjoyed all the holidays, even the little ones like St Patrick's day and the big ones like Halloween. It was fun watching Isaac learn to walk and discover everything even though that meant that I no longer have time to do anything around the house when Isaac is awake. Jim had a great year with school and work and enjoyed his time that he spent with Isaac. I look forward in seeing what 2008 will bring to us, hopefully a sibling for Isaac, and all the fun moments that we will experience with our friends and family. So, goodbye 2007 and we welcome 2008 with open arms.

Sundance Saloon

So when I was back in CA for the Holidays, I went with my brother, Ryan, to the Sundance Saloon in San Francisco which is a gay bar. I had so much fun!!! I learned how to two step, shadow dance and even learned a few line dances. Everyone was so nice. It was the best atmosphere that I could have asked for. No one cared if you were gay or straight or single or taken. Everyone was there to just dance and have a great time. I danced all night with so many wonderful people. I think that it was one of the highlights of my trip. I would definitely love to go back. I had a blast!

Christmas

This year for Christmas, just like all the other years, we went back to California to spend it with bout of our families. Jim was only there 4 days while Isaac and I were supposed to be there for 2 weeks but ended up staying for 3 weeks due to an ear infection on Isaac's part. This year was particularly fun because my Brother and Sister-in-law, Brent and Danika, came from Boston and Danika was 6 months pregnant with their first. It was SOOO much fun to see them plus I absolutely adore Danika; we are both the black sheep.

Christmas Eve and Christmas were busy as usual: going to Catholic mass, eating, parties, eating, going to different family members houses, eating. By the end of those 2 days, we needed a break. All in all, we ate a lot, received nice presents and spent time with our families. It was a good Christmas.

6 things you may not know about me

1. When I eat Oreos out of the bag, I need to make sure that there is an even number of cookies in each row when I am done eating them. One row CAN NOT have more cookies in it. It throws off the universe for me.

2. I have a real hard time cooking any sort of food even if there is only one dish in the sink.

3. Every time I go to Disney Land, I must eat a turkey leg and then text my friend Bridgette to let her know I am eating one. Don't ask me how that got started, but it did.

4. I went sky diving twice and bungee jumping once. I would do them again in a heart beat.

5. If I wasn't Mormon and was skinny, I would love to be in a Cabaret show

6. I love Ethiopian food.

Bubbles...what fun

Isaac loves his baths, but he also really loves his bubble baths. What a special treat to examine the bubbles, watching toys "disappear" and making big splashes to see the water beneath. The best part is all the fun hair-dos he gets and Daddy making up the hair he doesn't have with the bubbles. The down side- bubbles in the mouth, YUCK!!! He does not like that. Nevertheless, bath time is always a fun time to play in the water either by himself or with Dad when Dad is in there with him and it is a great time for Mom to e-mail, clean the kitchen, have "alone" time (only when Dad is home) or just sit and watch Isaac have a great time.

family Photos

The anticipation of the family photo for the Christmas card has arrived. With Jim's busy schedule, it is very hard to find a time to take it. Well, yesterday we seized the opportunity. It seemed perfect because the sun was shining, snow was on the ground, I actually did my hair that day, then reality set in when I realized that we were about to take the picture outside with so many distractions and a tired one year old in our arms. The joy soon went to stress and stress soon went to "what can we do to make Isaac happy?" Well, I think we at least got one picture that is decent. There were many that were close, but didn't make the cut. It is pretty much hopeless to take a "formal" picture with a baby, but hey, at least I tried, right?

Snow

Yesterday, December 1st, was our first real snow fall. Isaac woke up and went to our glass back door, put his hands on it while standing on his tippy toes squealing ""EEEEE!!!!" "EEEEE!" He was SO excited! I put on his snow bibs, snow jacket, mittens and hat and took him outside. He was like a big marshmallow that could barely move. He had so much fun in the snow: playing, feeling it, listening to it compress underneath his feet. He didn't like it however, when he had to walk on the grass because it was too deep for him to pick up his feet which of course made him fall down in it. He got so mad!!! Of course, I had to do what any normal Mom would do when their kid falls down in the snow: I threw snow balls at him. =0) He didn't mind. After 2 hours, the trill wore off and nap time arose. It was so much fun watching him play and watching him trying to help me shovel the driveway.

Chili and Rice

Last night was a lazy night for dinner since we had chili and rice. I put this on Isaac's high chair and watched him eat and discover his food. Jim and I both sat back as we ate and watched Isaac squeeze it through his fingers and put it on his face and head. Needless to say, he made a mess.
It wasn't until I put him in a bubble bath and he looked at me, chili head and all, with a huge smile did I then realize how lucky I am to be able to enjoy the small things in life like chili and rice.

Thanksgiving:What I am thankful for

Before I go on about what I am thankful for, I would first like to start off by announcing what I am NOT grateful for. I am so not grateful for computer viruses that affect your hard drive so you can no longer upload pictures, videos or use the Internet. I am not grateful for the price of gas and the fact that the government isn't doing a dang thing about it nor am I grateful for rude, inconsiderate people that feel like they are the center of the universe and that I need to bow down for them and wipe their butt.

OK, now what AM I grateful for? I am so grateful for my husband and son. God gave me the greatest gift when they came into my life. I am also grateful for the rest of my family, in-laws included. With out family, what is the purpose of living? I am grateful that I live in a country where even though I live below the poverty line, but I am much richer than people in other countries since I have heat, electricity and water. I am also grateful for all the men and women who serve this country admirably, putting their families on hold to protect mine. Lastly, I am truly grateful for our Savior, Jesus Christ and his willingness to die for us so that our sins can be forgiven. With out that sacrifice, we would never be able to live with our Heavenly Father again.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and ponders what they are thankful for. It is amazing when you sit down and actually think about it, how much you can come up with.

Random

Ok, so I really don't understand how come people can be so dishonest and stupid. I think that all the stupid dishonest people in the world should be locked up in their own special, little town and the key should be thrown away! I guess if that were the case, there really wouldn't be too many people around. Wouldn't that be so nice, though?

Today was stake conference at church and I was dreading it! Regular church is hard enough with just me and Isaac ( Jim works nights and gets home around 7/8 am so he goes to sleep.) let alone trying to stay in one place for 2 hours. With regular church, I end up in the foyer after the Sacrament was passed, all of Sunday school and at least the last 1/2 hour of Relief Society. I wonder why I even go sometimes. I mean, it would be so much easier to stay in my pj's, have Isaac go down for his nap at normal time and let him play with his own toys all in the comfort of my own home. Needless to say, I only heard about 1 1/2 talks today and the rest of the time I was walking around and in the play room.

Speaking of the play room, why can't parents monitor their kids? I know that kids will be kids, but come on!!! When you see your child deliberately taking toys away from kids so they can have 5 toys and NOT share, you should step in, right? I was so ready to kick this one kid in the side and the parent too because his kid was such a bully to Isaac and nothing was being done about it. Well, I finally decided to leave before I did anything.
