This week I had a "Wuehler Invasion!" Jim was traveling to New York but I was not by myself with the kids. Jim's parents, BJ and Jeanne, came into town and stayed with us from Tuesday to Sunday. The kids were super excited to play with Grandma and Grandpa and I was happy to have some adults to talk to and a little extra help with the daily doings. We sure kept busy and every both the kids AND grandparents were worn out!
One of the days they were here, we took them to Hinchley Farm. The kids and I went in last October and had a blast! It was during the harvest season and even got a pumpkin. This time with it being spring, there were a lot more little pattering around the farm and I am not talking about little children. We were able to see baby calves, baby kids, baby piglets and baby chicks; all of which the kids were either able to hold, touch and/or feed. Everyone milked a cow including Jim and Jeanne and Isaac was surprised at how hot the cow milk was, 101*F straight from the teet. Normally Isaac is my fearless leader but Elizabeth was way more daring and "country" than Isaac was this trip. It really surprised me. She could not get enough time with the animals. She was just in her hay day petting, feeding and holding the animals. She wasn't even a little timid standing next to the big cows! The kids and BJ even loved being around all the big tractors and farm equipment. I really LOVE going to this farm and recommend their tours to everyone!
William loved the farm too but every time I wanted a picture, this is what I got. |
Elizabeth giggled every time the piglet squealed. Poor Piglet |
Right after this picture was taken, she was pecked by a chicken and didn't like it. |
Yup. That is a baby chick in her shirt |
She loved giving the chicks a kiss on the beaks. |
On Friday morning, Brent and Danika and their daughters, Liesel and Ireland came over from Chicago and stayed in a hotel down the road for a couple of days. My kids were over the moon excited to have their cousins over to play with them and BJ and Jeanne were excited to play with 5 of their 6 grandchildren all at once. The hotel that they stayed at had a VERY kid-friendly pool. The kids could walk around 3/4 of it and it was great. There was a water slide, palm trees that dripped water, a water dumper, a water curtain and pumps that the kids could push that blows water in the air. It was like the kids went to an aquatic facility but they were only in the hotel. Even William went swimming and enjoyed himself.
Along with the visit, we took everyone to Jim's work so the kids could play and eat lunch. They had a great time and even Brent and Danika were amused with the themed conference rooms and themed buildings. We had fun taking pictures with the kids around the campus and look forward to taking them back there when they come and visit again.
Cutest bunch of trash I have ever seen. |
Part of this weekend's festivities was dying eggs. We left that to Brent and BJ to do with the kids. They had a great time and it was nice for me to be able to sit on the couch while they did it. I'm not sure who was more excited to actually dye them, Brent or Isaac?
Brent was concentrating very hard on decorating the eggs with the wax crayon |
I LOVE Ireland's silly faces she makes! |
The kids couldn't wait until they got the "ok" to run out into our backyard and find themselves some Easter eggs. Brent and Danika brought and filled all the eggs with candy, necklaces, bracelets, sticky animals, slinkys and ink stamps. When the hunt was all over, they had fun looking over and playing with/eating their spoils.
We were able to bless William on Easter Sunday which was nice and it was nice to be able to have Brent and Danika be able to attend this blessing. We tried to take some pictures after the blessing before we went home to make Easter dinner.
We had a fabulous, busy visit with everyone and can't wait to do it again.
This is Olivia, one of Elizabeth's best buds |

that is so cool that you could have them there for his blessing. I just love all the girl's cute little Easter dresses. It is so nice that Brent and Danika live so close for a quick visit like that. So fun.
