Walking

My little girl is growing up. I was sure Elizabeth would start walking early since Isaac was walking by 10 months but she didn't. She waited until she turned 1 and now she is walking everywhere. She gets sweeter and cuter everyday and is so much fun to watch walking around t eh house saying "eye-da." (Isaac) She looks up to Isaac and Isaac seems so proud that she is walking to...until she walks up top him playing with toys that he doesn't want her to have of course.

30 Before 30

I have accomplished two more items on my 30 things to do before I turn 30 list: 1. be the first to ride on Splash Mountain with Isaac and 2. go to the Farmers market at the SF Ferry Building.

We went to Disneyland the other day and Isaac has finally made the 40 inch mark! Jim and I were so excited. I took Isaac on SM for the first time. It is my all time favorite ride at Disneyland so it was fun to share it with Isaac and see it through his eyes. He LOVED it!

While I was in the Bay Area, the kids and I along with my Dad and brother went to the SF farmers market at the Ferry Building. I have been to may farmers markets but I have to say, I really enjoyed this one. I would love to go back with out the kids. The double stroller was very hard to maneuver in the biog crowds and tiny isle spots and stores. There was every type of vendor there along with a local band, which Isaac enjoyed, and some great homemade food by local chefs. To top it off, the
weather was BEAUTIFUL! We spent a few hours there and could easily have spent the whole day. The kids also enjoyed coloring with chalk on the sidewalks in the city. It was a great day and I can't wait to go back.

NorCal

For 3 weeks, the kids and I spent time up in the Bay Area with family. Jim came up and joined us during that last week. We had a great time. I signed Isaac up for swim lesson, which he loved! His teacher, Mr. Ryan, was great! Isaac has always been a fish but now he seems to be a fish with gills. Besides swim lessons, we went to the Alameda County Fair, Oakland Zoo, San Francisco, out to dinner and lunches with friends and family and just hung around. We also celebrated Elizabeth's first birthday, my birthday, my brother's birthday and went to the cabin with both sets of parents at different times during the week. I also had the opportunity to go to my dear friend, Shiloh's, wedding, sans kids. It was great! We always enjoy going to the Bay Area to visit friends and family, but it is always nice to get back into your own groove when you get home.

Elizabeth's first birthday was fun. I was so excited to actually be celebrating with family. We had the party at my Aunt and Uncle's house and decorated it with a Princess theme. I made Elizabeth a tutu to wear and spruced up a pink onesie and my Mom got her a princess crown. We dined on hamburgers and Casper hot dogs with some yummy salads and a cake and cupcakes for dessert. Everyone had a great time and Elizabeth received some wonderful gifts.

The cabin was a fun week too. We were able to spend a couple of days with my parents up there and a couple of days with Jim's parents. My dad bought Isaac a fishing pole and man did Isaac have fun with it. Well, I am not sure who had more fun: Isaac, both Grandpas or Jim. Isaac kept catching blue gills and small striped bass. He would catch them and then release them. Isaac also had a great time this year jumping off the dock, swimming across the lake and swinging on the rope swing. We couldn't get him to get out of the water or to leave. Elizabeth had a great time there too. She loved playing in the sand, sitting in the water and playing with the wet sand on the chairs. We ate our meals outside on the deck and made s'mores in the evening after the sun went down. The kids were so tired and dirty! When Jim's parents came up we did all of the above things but we also took them to Columbia State Park. Jeanne had a great time candle dipping with Isaac and BJ had a great time panning for gold with him too. It was a hot day so I shared one of my favorite things to drink there with them, an ice cold Sarsaparilla. They also took the kids on a stagecoach ride and enjoyed some old fashion bowling. I think they enjoyed themselves.

VBS

For the last week of June, Isaac participated in Vacation Bible School at Malibu Presbyterian. The theme was "A High Sea Expedition." During the week, he listened to bible stories, learned pop-y songs about Jesus along with dance moves and made great crafts. He came home excited everyday telling me what he and his friends did. He knew a lot of kids in his group already because he attended preschool with them. On the last day, all the kids put on a show for the adults with scriptures that were memorized and songs that they learned. It was so cute watching Isaac on stage singing and dancing. The best part of it, well at least to Isaac, was the subway lunch and blow up structures to play on afterward. It was a great week for Isaac.

These are some great pictures of Elizabeth eating her first rib. The Simpson's met us at Disneyland and we went to dinner at the Woody's Roundup BBQ. Elizabeth insisted on eating the ribs and the corn on the cob with only her two bottom teeth.

Nothing in Particular

Jim wanted to give Isaac his annual buzz cut for the summer but of course Isaac and I were a bit reluctant. Isaac doesn't like Jim cutting his hair and even though I think Isaac still looks cute with a buzz, I prefer him to have some hair. This time we let Isaac cut his own hair, for the most part, and he was happy as pie doing it. We told him that he was getting a buzz haircut and he said that it was his "Buzz light year" hair cut. Whatever works, right?

This is Isaac's old hat that Elizabeth found. I think she looks cute in it.

One evening we ventured north on the Pacific Coast Highway and ate at Neptune's Net. We shared one HUGE platter of fried clam strips, calamari, shrimp, scallops, fish, crab cakes and french fries. Isaac LOVED eating the calamari with the tentacles attached versus the circular ones. I think he was pretending he was eating something from the show Bizarre Foods.
Isaac made this mask one day when Elizabeth was napping. This picture makes me laugh.
