A Day Out With Thomas

Today Jim and I took Isaac to Heber, Utah to the "Day out with Thomas." You know, Thomas the Train? Jim and I aren't really big fans of Thomas, but Jim's co-worker had an extra ticket so we said that we would go. Despite the fact that it is almost June and a few days ago it was in the 90's, it was drizzling today and the high was 40. Yes, I said 40! Not to mention that is was SNOWING in the mountains around us !It felt SO cold. We ended up having a nice day all bundled up, though. Good thing I kept out a couple of pants and jackets for Isaac instead of packing away ALL of his winter clothes. We rode "Thomas" which was actually a real big train, went to the petting zoo, watched performers and looked at a Lego train which Isaac loved. He really had a great time with everything. One of the things that I enjoyed was a family of talented musicians. It was the Mom and Dad plus their 8 kids, well 7 since the youngest looked under 1, singing, playing the drums, keyboard, Cello, fiddles and violins. They all had matching costumes and the girls had really long hair with puffed up bangs. They looked like something out of Backwoods America with children that are home schooled (there is nothing wrong with homeschooling by the way), that don't know anything about the "modern world" It's like the Von Trapp Family, but more like the "Von Smith" family. They were pretty amazing. I am sure much work and dedication has gone on in that home. Afterwards we went to a park and ate lunch and played for a bit. All in all it was cold, but a nice day.
