Sweet, tender kisses

I LOVE sweet, tender kisses from Isaac! They make my heart melt. Let me explain. A couple of weeks ago, Isaac was having a hard time sleeping so one night I put him in bed with me in the middle of the night since Jim wasn't home. For the first hour, Isaac would snuggle with me then sit up and talk even though I ignored him. Then he climbed up and lied on my chest, put both of his small hands on each one of my cheeks and ever so tenderly, gave me a kiss on my lips. After that, he climbed down, snuggle deep into my chest and armpit and fell asleep. Well, last night I decided to go to bed early since it was Jim's night home and while I was lying in bed, I shouted out, "Isaac, Momma needs you to tuck her in. Can you please come and tuck me in?" With in a minute Isaac came into my room, talked some gibberish to me and when I leaned over and asked for a good night kiss, he leaned in toward me, got on his tippy-toes and gave me not one but TWO sweet, soft kisses. Then he walked out. It is moments like these that make me realize how special it is to be a Mom and that no other job can give you those wonderful little gifts and perks!

What a deal!

I am so excited to share my big shopping deal that has to do with Shade Clothing. For those of you who are not familiar with this brand, it is clothing for the "Modest" woman or girl. They have everything from modest swimsuits, turtlenecks, shirts, undershirts, tanks, camisoles, dresses and the list goes on and on. I love their cap sleeve tees and their strap camisoles. They cover all of my bits, give me protection from people seeing my under clothes and they do down far enough on my waist/hips so that when I bend over, people can't see my under roos. Anyways, I have always bought things from them full price which can get costly, but they are well worth it, but today, Provo High School was having a fundraiser with Shade and everything was only $5, yes only $5. Can you believe it? It was the greatest deal that I have gotten while shopping a such a long time! I bought 8 items and only paid $42.60!!! I love buying clothes that work and are practical, but it is even better buying them at a really low price!

What a fun day

.

Since finals are approaching next week at BYU, Jim didn't have class on Friday which made the day fun and we took advantage of it. To make things even better, the weather was great on Friday. Once Jim woke up, we took Isaac to Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City. It's a nice zoo, but nowhere near what Jim and I grew up with between the San Fransisco and Oakland zoo. Isaac has been to zoos in the past, but this was the first time that he was really active in seeing the animals which was really fun to watch. I have been trying to teach him animals and their sounds, but I soon realized when we were at the zoo, he only picked up saying one sound: ROOOAAARRR! He would point to birds, monkeys, bears, zebras, camels, etc and roar. Both Jim and I tried to correct him, but then we just kept laughing finding it entertaining and amusing. After the zoo, we drove to the Gateway, and outdoor mall with tons of restaurants, for dinner. All through dinner Isaac was flirting with a table of 5 college girls. He really turned on his charm. They were focused on him through-out ours and their dinner. He LOVED the attention from them! What a little flirt! Needless to say, we all had a fun day and since the days are numbered with Jim's school and work schedule for when we can actually spend time together as a family, it was a fun, memorable day.

Nice Surprise

The other morning around 4:30 am, I got out of bed to use the bathroom and noticed Jim doing dishes and that the light in the oven was on. Just so you know, Jim works nights and gets off at 4am. I thanked him for doing the dishes and then asked him what was in the oven. His was reply was simple, "Nothing. Go back to bed." That was fine with me. Well, when I woke up in the morning I found "I <3 U" cut out of cake, frosted and put on a nice platter. It was the best thing to wake up too! How many wives can say that they woke up to surprise that was sweet in thought and sweet in the belly too. I am very thankful that I have a husband who loves me and is nit afraid to tell me.

Goblin Valley

Isaac and I ventured to down into the south-eastern part of Utah and visited Goblin Valley State Park with a couple of our neighbors. The park was originally, in pre-historic time, near a large coastal sea and over time, the sandstone which was part of a highland has been slowly eroding by the weather which produces these spherical-shaped 'goblins.' To me, they look more like wild mushrooms, but whatever. Isaac had so much fun running around and exploring all of the sand, dirt and little crevasses. He tried to keep up with the older high school boys, often forgetting that he is only 17 months and his little legs go too fast for his body on the down hill slopes resulting in a face plant in the dirt. Nonetheless, he would always stand right back up, dust off his hands, and then call to the kids ahead of him to let them know that he was still behind them. Everyone thought that was great. After a day of running in the dirt, Isaac was ready for a nice nap in the car on his way home. We really had a fun day.

Tagged

Isaac was tagged by his friend, Sydney and Isaac tags the Whetten Family and the Manning Family.

Here are Isaac's 10 favorite things

1. Mom and Dad...of course we are his #1!
2. Being outside...he is always trying to go outside and when he does, he never wants to come in
3. Kids... he loves to play with other kids, especially the ones that are a little older than him
4. Water...bath, swimming, sink....any water he can play with is always a plus. I think he will grow gills soon.
5. Being naked...he LOVES to run around the house naked and play and mark his territory. It is always a struggle to put clothes on him.
6.Adult chairs at the kitchen table...out with the high chair if sitting in a "adult" chair doesn't make him throw his food on the floor or at Mommy
7.Bottle...he only gets it at night time and his 1 nap so it is VERY appreciated when he gets it
8.Books...he loves to read and be read too
9.Music..any type, but he dances the best to hip hop
10.Balls...any type and size. He likes to kick them and throw them all over the house, yard and neighborhood

Haka

For those of you who have not yet figured it out, Jim and I LOVE the Polynesian culture. One aspect that we really enjoy is the Haka, a Maori war dance made to intimidate their opponents. Nowadays, it is also used for amusement, celebrations and greetings. It is fun to watch the facial contortions of tongues sticking out and eyes bugging out and also hearing all the hitting and slapping of the body. Jim has been trying to teach Isaac the Haka for a while, so I thought I would take a video of Isaac's interpretation of this dance. Below is a video of the actual Haka done by the All Blacks of New Zealand.

Funny Face

Isaac has a new funny face that just makes Jim and I laugh to the point of almost peeing our pants. He tightens up all his muscles in his face and neck until he shakes, lifts his invisible eyebrows, opens his eyes wide and stretches out his mouth. This video doesn't do justice at all!! Isaac is camera shy with his new face and wouldn't let me get a good video of it. I wish everyone could see him do it in person and see what such a weirdy he is.

Mean Moms

My Mom, "the meanest Mom of all" sent me this by e-mail a while ago and I thought it was great! Hopefully one day I will become a "Mean Mom" too.

Mean Moms

Someday when my children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates a parent, I will tell them, as my Mean Mom told me: I loved you enough to ask where you were going, with whom, and what time you would be home. I loved you enough to be silent and let you discover that your new best friend was a creep. I loved you enough to stand over you for two hours while you cleaned your room, a job
that
should have taken 15 minutes. I loved you enough to let you see anger, disappointment, and tears in my eyes. Children must learn that their parents aren't perfect. I loved you enough to let you assume the responsibility for your actions even when the penalties were so harsh they almost broke my heart. But most of all, I loved you enough to say NO when I knew you would hate me for it. Those were the most difficult battles of all. I'm glad I won them, because in the end you won, too. And someday when your children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates parents, you will tell them.

Was your Mom mean? I know mine was.

We had the meanest mother in the whole world! While other kids ate candy for breakfast, we had to have cereal, eggs, and toast. When others had a Pepsi and a Twinkie for lunch,we had to eat sandwiches. And you can guess our mother fixed us a dinner that was different from what other kids had, too. Mother insisted on knowing where we were at all times. You'd think we were convicts in a prison.
She had to know who our friends were and what we were doing with them. She insisted that if we said we would be gone for an hour, we would be gone for an hour or less. We were ashamed to admit it, but she had the nerve to break the Child Labor Laws by making us work. We had to wash the dishes, make the beds, learn to cook, vacuum the floor, do laundry, empty the trash and all sorts of cruel jobs. I th ink she would lie awake at night thinking of more things for us to do.
She always insisted on us telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. By the time we were teenagers, she could read our minds and had eyes in the back of her head. Then, life was really tough! Mother wouldn't let our friends just honk the horn when they drove up. They had to come up to the door so she could meet them. While everyone else could date when they were 12 or 13, we had to wait until we were 16.

Because of our mother, we missed out
on lots of things other kids experienced. None of us have ever been caught shoplifting, vandalizing other's property or ever arrested for any crime. It was all her fault. Now that we have left home, we are all educated, honest adults. We are doing our best to be mean parents just like Mom was. I think that is what's wrong with the world today. It just doesn't have enough mean moms!

Thanks Jim

This winter has been hard on our family because it seems like Isaac and I have been really sick for most of it. The past few days haven't been an exception. While Isaac battled a really bad cold, sometimes throwing up, I battled the stomach flu. Jim is lucky he wants to go to medical school because by the time he gets there, he will have had a ton of practice! Although Jim's school and work schedule make it very hard for us to see him, he never lets us down when we are sick. He always goes beyond measure to make sure that we are alright. Today he made me turkey soup from scratch; even making his own noodles! It was the best soup I have tasted in a long time. I ate 2 bowls full! (oink oink). Well, that was the most I ate the past couple of days. Isaac really enjoyed it too! We are very grateful to have a husband and father that loves us so much and takes care of us. So, Thank you Jim!!!
